While we encourage all people to get involved in our programs, a significant number commit to developing their skills to the level of tournament players. As a general rule, to become a tournament player the athlete must demonstrate a moderate competency skill level.

In tournament competition, athletes are placed in a division based on their rating as determined by the Special Olympics North America rating system. In addition to match play, the tournament experience may include traveling to other cities for the event, overnight lodging, meeting new friends, and additional opportunities to learn to play the game in a competitive spirit.
