In honor of October being #DownSyndromeAwarenessMonth Special Pops Tennis would like to introduce you to one of our athletes, @specialpopsathens coaches, and a big voice in advocating for people with Down Syndrome, Doug Penning. Doug feels that it is his calling to advocate for people with Down Syndrome. He has worked at Chick-fil-A for 13 years where he enjoys working with the great staff and providing amazing customer service to every person who enters the store. He recently started working at Publix as well so he could work more hours and continue to prepare for his future.

He wants others to know that people with Down Syndrome are really good at setting their minds to something they’re passionate about and when they do that then they can accomplish anything. He also wants people to know that people with Down Syndrome are smart, kind, and unique and should not be limited because people with Down Syndrome can accomplish great things!

“We exist in this world and we deserve to have a voice!” -Doug Penning

Be sure to check out @whatsupwithdougandmary for more information about his advocating. Also, if you’re a Georgia Bulldog fan check out @dougdawgreport for weekly Bulldog sports updates.

When you meet Doug you’ve got to love him. His attitude is so infectious. He’s a Dawg and I’m a Gator And we have fun going back at each other. With the big game this weekend we should definitely have fun.

I am so proud of Doug. He is amazing tennis player and boyfriend.

Doug is a blessing to all those he comes in contact with ❤ I am so thankful for the opportunity to have gotten to know Doug and be his friend. Thank you for touching so many lives, Doug. ❤

Doug is the best. He's such an advocate for the population. A great tennis player, awesome as Doug Dawg, but more importantly a wonderful friend and human!

Doug has been a blessing to so many people. His heart for giving his best efforts and seeing the best in others inspires me to be a better person! He loves his DAWGS, his family, tennis, friends, etc. --- but most importantly he LOVES his life!!! We can all learn from his selfless lifestyle!!!

Doug is such a special person. There is no way that I can put in words what a wonderful person he is!! God Bless you Doug. I miss seeing you as often as we did. Keep up the good work!!! With lots of love.

And what a great advocate he is!!

Good young man

Way to go Douger!
