February 2022 SPT Athlete: Jamie

This month’s SPT Athlete Feature is Jamie. She has been playing tennis with SPT for 3-4 years! Jamie loves playing tennis and really enjoys it. When asked if she would like to be our Athlete Feature of the Month she said YES and lit up with a huge smile! Jamie’s father, Jim, takes her to tennis weekly. He has seen her make tremendous progress in tennis. He loves watching her play on the indoor courts and really appreciates the amazing volunteers that work with Jamie and the other athletes. November 2021 SPT Athlete: Dominick

This month’s SPT Athlete Feature is Dominick. He has been playing with SPT for 15 years! When asked what his favorite part of Special Pops Tennis is he said, “I love playing singles and don’t get tired playing singles like others do and I love the competition.” His favorite memories from SPT have been traveling to and participating in tournaments in Hilton Head, Dothan, Montgomery, Belton, and the Special Olympic Summer Games. Out of all of his travels, his favorite tournament is definitely the Fall Classic! Outside of tennis he enjoys playing softball, basketball, and bowling. October 2021 SPT Athlete: Mimi Ngo

This month’s SPT Athlete Feature is Mimi. She started playing tennis with SPT in 2010 when she was just 10 years old. When asked what her favorite part of SPT is, Mimi had this to say: “My favorite part is playing tennis with friends and making new friends. I also like to learn how to play tennis.” Mimi’s favorite SPT memory was when she went to Orlando for a tennis tournament in 2019 with SPT and got to visit Disney World. Off the tennis courts, Mimi loves to play basketball and video games. She is also part of the STRIVE Program where she is learning job skills and working to find the job that is the best fit to her. August 2021 SPT Athlete: Santino

This August 2021 Special Pops Tennis Athlete Feature is Santino. Santino has been playing tennis with SPT since the start. When asked what his favorite part of SPT was, Santino said making friends and having fun! Some of his favorite memories involving Special Pops Tennis happened while working with his coaches at our Lifetime and East Roswell academies. Santino recently moved to Arizona to be close to family and is hoping to find a new job. Outside of tennis, Santino loves to play basketball, soccer, bocce ball, and also spending time with his family especially his niece. July 2021 SPT Athlete: Kevin Mackey

The July 2021 SPT Athlete Feature is Kevin Mackey. Kevin started playing tennis with SPT in 2009 when he was just 10 years old. When asked what his favorite part of SPT is, Kevin had this to say: “It has been really great for me. SPT taught me how to play tennis by teaching me to swing better. The volunteers and coaches taught me a lot and it has been great to learn from them. I like to practice because they are fun.
